Adventist Youth Federation in Westmoreland takes the Gospel to Petersfield Community

It is no secret that the average Youth rejoices in the advent of Summer, as it is a time to relax from the demands of a hectic School Year, travel, see relatives and friends, and to enjoy the leisure and pleasures the heated season offers.

While several Adventist Youth across the Parish of Westmoreland could have chosen to be engaged in these ‘summer activities,’ Youth from the Westmoreland Federation in partnership with the Petersfield Seventh-day Adventist Church also in the Parish, actively engaged themselves in the work of the Lord, by hosting an Evangelistic Series and Youth Empowerment Initiative which they believe will have a tremendous impact on the Petersfield and surrounding communities.

Guided by the theme “Hope for the World,” the series has as its Guest Speaker the dynamic Evangelist Everett Taylor, Pastor of the Lilliput District of Seventh-day Adventist Churches, located in the Parish of St. James.

According to Damion Williams President of the Federation, the Youth possess a tremendous responsibility as witnesses.

“We realize that as young people, we too have a responsibility to share the good news of salvation with others, especially since many of our Youth are involved in Crime and Violence” he stated. “As a Federation, we are very concerned with the Parish of Westmoreland and the number of persons that are being violently killed. We cannot sit aside and allow this to happen!”

The recent murders in Grange Hill and surrounding communities in the Parish since the start of the year, have contributed to the upsurge in reported crimes across the island. It was therefore the determination of the Youth Federation body to engage Seventh-day Adventist Youth to inspire their counterparts in the Community, to be agents of positive change.
