Pastor Leon B. Wellington, Vice President of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Inter-America Division (IAD) was thrilled to be part of history when he joined more than three hundred campers and officers on the first Sabbath of the first summer camp to be held at  East Jamaica Conference’s Camp Phillipsfield in St. Thomas.  The camp was held under the theme ‘Build to Last’ and ran from August 11 – 18, 2015.

Pastor Wellington, who was on a visit in Jamaica ,  was invited to bring greetings to the campers by Conference president, Pastor Eric Nathan during the divine hour worship service on August 15, 2015. Dr. Nathan used the opportunity to make a special request of the president of Inter- America Division, Pastor Israel Leito.

“I would love Pastor Wellington to take back to Elder Leito, the request of East Jamaica Conference,”  Dr. Nathan said. “We would love to see a cabin that has on the title of it ,’Donated by the Inter-America Division’  so that every time people come here they would see that a cabin was built by the Inter-American Division,” Nathan said.  “It’s a suggestion. We hope that they will take that into consideration.” In response to this bold request, Pastor Wellington had the right words to bring comfort to the heart of his friend yet protect himself from making any promises that he could not keep.
