NCU President to Serve Until August 2016

MANDEVILLE, Jamaica, (NCU)

After presenting his annual report to the Northern Caribbean University (NCU) Board, NCU president, Dr. Trevor G. Gardner, indicated his desire not to be considered for service in the 2016-17 academic year. He has offered to serve for the rest of the 2015-2016 academic year, through to the graduation of the class of 2016 in August. The president pointed out that he believes the advanced notice allows enough time for the university board to execute a meaningful search for a replacement.

He expressed appreciation to the board through a letter submitted to board chairman, Pastor Everett Brown, prior to the board meeting on Monday, January 25. The president held meetings with the NCU administrative body, faculty, staff and students subsequent to the board action and informed them of his decision.  A thirteen-man search committee has been established to select the NCU president who will serve as at the start of the 2016-2017 academic year.  The search committee has representation drawn from amongst others, the ownership base, alumni, faculty, staff and students of the university.

NCU alumnus and president of NCU, Dr. Trevor G. Gardner is the 23rd president of the institution and has been president since 2012.
