Watch your tongue... Adventist leader wants politicans about personal attacks

As Jamaica and its two major political parties prepare for a general election that is constitutionally due this year, the president of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Jamaica is warning political leaders to watch their tongue on the campaign trail.

“The administration of the Union calls upon all our political leaders to keep the campaign rhetoric clear from personal attack that fuels unethical tension and embarrassing dispositions between opponents,” Pastor Everette Brown said.

“Caustic behaviour by leaders towards opponents is usually reflected, rebutted, and retaliated [against] by followers, to the level where fury materialises in fights, and fights into fatalities. Let us not be weighed in the balance and found wanting,” Brown said.
